If you’ve been on the fence about getting Starlink satellite internet, now may be the best time to try it out. There are two big promotions going on in select areas of the United States and Canada. I previously covered the $200 “Regional Savings” discount, which drops the equipment price from $499 to $299. Now, Starlink is allowing new customers to pay just $50 up front to try Starlink for 30 days.

The map above shows which US states are participating in the $50 trial offer, as well as the $200 Regional Savings discount. To find out if you qualify, visit Starlink.com and enter your address. If your service address is in one of the white areas on the map, you’ll see the $200 discount, as well as the option to try Starlink for just $50.
Unlike previous promotions, the $50 trial gives you a brand new, latest generation Starlink Gen 3 kit, not an older or refurbished model.

How the $50 trail works:
If you select the trial option, you will owe $50 for the equipment, plus any applicable tax and shipping amounts. After you receive your Starlink and power it on for the first time, the 30 day trial starts. You’ll be invoiced for a prorated monthly service fee upon activation. After 30 days, you’ll be billed for the remaining equipment balance of $249. If you decide to cancel and return your dish, Starlink will refund the $50 and any monthly service fees you paid.
There are some restrictions you should know about. First, the $50 trial offer is only available to new Starlink customers in select areas of the US and Canada. You won’t see this option if you already have an account. Second, it’s only available for the Standard/Residential service plan. Neither the trial, nor Regional Savings discount, are available for Roam or Business orders. Finally, it’s important to know that the $50 trial applies only to the equipment cost. You’ll pay a separate amount for the monthly service when you activate your subscription.
In the last several months, Starlink has been pushing hard for new home internet subscribers, especially in areas with excess network capacity. This new $50 trial offer is another tool Starlink is using to attract customers who find the equipment cost to be a major hurdle. The Regional Savings price of $299, and the ability to spread that out with the $50 trial, should help expand access to Starlink.
It’s unclear how long these promotions will last, or if eligibility will expand. Starlink just reduced the MSRP of their Standard kit from $599 to $499, so equipment prices are definitely trending down. If your address is eligible and you’ve been interested in trying Starlink, I wouldn’t pass this offer up.
